iKyps used to educate Southeastern Washington state families during National Preparedness Month

Region 8 Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, a public health regional coordination entity working with four local health jurisdictions, has turned to Kyp Systems to help educate regional families about preparing for a pubic health emergency.

Region 8 Public Health developed a user-friendly ‘Be Aware, Be Prepared’ guide to equip the public with vital facts they can easily understand, use and share. The guide was created using Kyp System’s patented iKyp mini communication tool, which is slightly larger than a credit card. Within the iKyp is an emergency contact card for important phone numbers, a booklet with lists of emergency preparedness items, and a list of radio stations to tune into in the event of an emergency.

The iKyps will be distributed during September’s National Preparedness Month at local health departments, community health care partners, outreach events and presentations.

“The ‘Be Aware, Be Prepared’ iKyp is an essential for every citizen’s disaster supply kit,” said Angela Seydel, Region 8 Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response. “It allows us to communicate crucial safety information in an impactful, accessible and compact format.”

“This application is an example of how the iKyp is an exceptional tool for public awareness campaigns,” said Lou Vastardis, president of U.S. operations, Kyp Systems.  “This format has been developed to invite intrigue and exploration and therefore is perfectly suited for engaging the public with important safety messages.”
