Event promoters Sports Vision International have appointed Kyp Systems to create an iKyp – information to Keep in your pocket – to accompany Europe’s largest lifestyle sports festival, the Rip Curl Boardmasters 2006.

This specially designed iKyp will feature details of all schedules, events and competitions that will be taking place over the seven-day festival, held in Newquay during the first week in August.

Rip Curl Boardmasters attracts extreme sports stars from around the world and has prestigious competitions in surfing, skating, BMX, VMX, with other attractions including a bikini competition and live performances from top rock acts.

“It’s very important for events of this nature to have the correct communications tool as there is so much information to impart”, explains Andrew Topham, Event Director at Sports Vision International. “The iKyp is a fantastic solution for everybody as it can cope with high levels of content without producing masses of marketing clutter. The pocket-sized device will be used for publicising the event and storing important information for festival attendees as well as enhancing visitor experience and providing an extra piece of collateral for our sponsors.”

Andrew continued: “We wanted Kyp Systems to design a variety of iKyps for us. The first will be distributed in the build up to the event and will contain information on all of the main attractions. It will be available at partner shops, bars, clubs etc. in and around Newquay. Then special edition electronic iKyps (torch, radio & randomiser) will be distributed at the event itself, offering the perfect take-home reminder of the festival.”
